SEO - Simple way to build backlinks

Trying to get backlinks for your website is very time consuming. Finding sites to put your backlinks is also a challenge sometimes. The easiest thing to do is see who is at the top for your keywords and then do a search for their website surrounded by quotes in google. This will bring up all the sites linking back to them so you can also add your link to these sites.

This seems like the easiest way to get backlinks after you have covered all the main backlink sites like the yellow pages, google, yahoo, MSN, and article sites.

Removing a Virus or Malware Made Easy Guide

If you are infected with any kind of virus or malware, here are the steps you must take.

Step 1. GET ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER
If you cannot access your computer due to a fake antivirus program you must start the computer in safe mode. You may also skip to Step 2 and try it without going into safe mode. When your computer is booting, (before windows starts) keep pressing F8 until you get a screen where you must make a selection. Select “Safe Mode with Networking”.

Step 2. KILL THE FAKE ANTIVIRUS
If the fake antivirus is still there you must do CTRL ALT DEL to bring up the task manager and go to Services. Look for any program that might be the fake antivirus and end the process. If you are unsure, just start ending all of them until you find the one that kills the fake antivirus. If something goes wrong you can always start this process over. You can not harm anything by ending the processes.
If you do not see any icons or start menu then when you are in the task manager go to File -> New Task and type in C:\windows\explorer.exe
This will start the GUI for windows.

Step 3. GET ON THE INTERNET
Open Internet Explorer and see if you can get on the internet. If you can’t, go to “Tools” ->” Internet Options” and then go to the “Connections” tab. Once there click on “LAN Settings”. The only box that should be checked is “Auto Detect Settings”. Uncheck everything else. This should allow you to get on the internet. If you still cannot get on the internet make sure you are plugged directly into the router with a cable and not using wireless.

Step 4. INSTALL MALWAREBYTES
Go to http://malwarebytes.org/and install the free version. Make sure you run the update before scanning. Once it is updated, run a quick scan. When it is finished, remove everything it finds. You will need to reboot after. Once it reboots you should be able to access your computer as normal.

Step 5. PREVENTION
Install these programs and follow some safety steps to stay free of viruses and malware.

1. Buy and install either ESET Smart Security or Kaspersky Internet Security.
2. Buy Malwarebytes which you already have installed. Yes this program does have a free version but it will not stop infections. The paid version runs real-time and will stop infections before they get into your computer.
3. Run full scans with both software programs.
4. Don’t click on pop-ups no matter what they say. Some will never go away. The best thing to do in this case is reboot or go into task manager and end the application. These are how most of the infections get installed. Clicking on them is telling them to install on your computer.
5. Make sure you windows updates are up to date.

This should take care of most of the threats out there. If you still can’t get it fixed your best bet is to take it to a local computer repair shop like Orlando Computer Repair.

"Outsourced" New TV Show

A new comedy based on outsourced call centers hits TV tonight. If you have ever called for support on a computer you are familiar with how bad support can be when they are in other countries. This show is based off of an older one which I have never seen. Hopefully this will be as funny as "The Office".

Hers is a preview.

50GB of free online storage

Setting up my online storage brought me back a company who offers 50GB free. I just wanted to let everyone know about this company. There are others out that may have better features but they don't come close to the 50GB Adrive is offering. Everything is web based, there is no desktop client. There is no autobackup feature either. There is a paid version that offers all that but this post is about free storage.

I have alot of different files and stuff I just like to have in the cloud for easy access and this seems to be it. The upload speed seems slow but so did some others I tried.

Let me know if you know of something better that is free with this much storage.

iPhone Backup Extractor

I have been through a complete nightmare with the iphone since iOS4 came out and I updated my 3G phone. I just wanted to post this real quick to help out others in a bind with apple's great itunes product.

I lost everything on my phone after I downgraded my phone back to iOS3 from iOS4. Along the line I actual had a Samsung Captivate for a week but returned it (thats another story but bottom line is Droid is not ready for me yet, maybe when 3.0 hits). So between work and home and changing computers I was left with a clean install of iOS3.1.3 on my phone after the downgrade and none of my files. If you want to downgrade your phone this is what I did.

I got my contacts (from google contacts) and apps back but was missing all my pictures. I didn't have any music. I found a backup somewhere on an older computer from before and found the backup files.
Windows 7 - C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
XP - C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Now because apple is so awesome you will never know how to restore a backup from another computer or do anything else with it unless you get this program. iPhone Backup Extractor

It will let you access anything from the backup.

At last my phone is back with everything from before.
Some people say they have not had any problems with iOS4 but on my 3G it was so slow I just couldn't take it anymore. Hopefully Droid gets their email fixed so I can ditch apple for good. I don't like how they do anything.

Welcome

I find a need to share things I think other people will find helpful in a world run by tech. Although all of my posts may not be helpful hopefully they will amuse you if nothing else. I am a systems admin so alot of the things I post on here might be above the average users knowledge of some things. I will also throw a little bit of my personal life in here too.
